Today’s Blog reporters are YuMei, Caroline and Isabelle.
This morning we played on the computer. It is called Lexia Reading.
We just played Cover Up (a math game) at 2:04. The rest of the class is watching Veggie Tales now and we are writing on the blog.
We read books and did AR (Accelerated Reader) Testing after lunch recess. Then we looked at Landforms on Discovery Education. We like the lakes, waterfalls and valleys.
Today was Casual Day. Some kids wore jeans. We wore a dress (Caroline) and skirts (YuMei and Isabelle.)
Father Paul visited our classroom on Wednesday and he brought his guitar. He sang songs with us. We sang “This Little Light of Mine”, “A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea” and our favorite “Out the Window.”
We hope he visits again soon!
We had four fire drills this week! We even had one when Father Paul was in the classroom. We have fire drills so that if there is a real fire we will all get out safely. Although we feel pretty safe since our school is made mostly of brick. The kids that go to Afterschool care had a fire drill too!
We are learning about Landforms. We went to Discovery Education and found pictures of Landforms. We really liked the pictures of the waterfalls, mountains, valleys and lakes. We will visit Discovery Education again next week to find out more about Landforms.
After reading Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett we decided to write our own silly story. We decided to name our school St. Spaghetti and wrote about a day that candy rained from the sky. We are the stars of our book too! Enjoy reading our first class book.
The 2nd graders made US flags. We used red, white and blue construction paper. We chose either the present day 50 star flag or the original 13 stars arrangement. We know that the 13 stripes represent the 13 original colonies and the 50 stars stand for each of our fifty states. We learned the words to “God Bless America” and you can hear us singing along with the slide show of our US flags.
We watched the video on this link to see how the flag has changed over the past 200 years. How the Flag Has Changed Over Time
Today’s blog report was written by the whole class.
This has been a fun week at school!
Today we went to Mass. We sit up by the altar. After Mass we had gym where we jump roped with a partner. In Spanish it was game day. We played 4 corners. We started AR testing today after lunch. We have been having fun playing with our friends at recess.
We visited other classroom blogs today. They are 1st grade blogs in Virginia. One is Wojetera’s Words and the other is Patterson’s Pack. We looked at the pictures they put on their wiki and played the games they had on their blogs. We left a comment on one of the blogs.
We are working on a picture book we wrote after reading Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Our book is called Sunny with a Chance of Candy. We are taking pictures of ourselves which we will put in the book. We got the idea from The Room 9 Classroom Blog in New Zealand.
